From a blank slate to an activated waterfront and marina
Challenge
A man-made island is a landscape with no cultural context, no built forms and no history. Our design challenge was to find ways to create a world-class yacht club and marina that would cater to the needs of a future population and a future island city.

Insight
The marina waterfront is a significant commitment by Dalian Wanda to advance the emerging yacht and cruising industry in China.
Solution
Scott Carver was announced the winner of the design competition to deliver the Qingdao Yacht Club and Marina. The project is a showcase embracing world best practice design and technologies. The Marina is an international rated facility capable of hosting international yacht races and events. The extreme marina design parameters necessitated rigorous modelling and enhanced climatic simulation to guide and verify the design parameters and innovative site-specific solutions.
