The Bays Precinct, White Bay
A vision for a world-class creative precinct
Challenge
In 2015, UrbanGrowth NSW invited submissions for ideas to transform The Bays precinct. This largely run-down waterfront precinct comprises a former power station and its surrounding land. We worked with Sydney Art Zone to develop a vision for transforming this underused site into a stunning waterfront destination with a strong creative heart.

Insight
An 80ha site ready for urban renewal less than 2km’s from the Sydney CBD and almost entirely surrounded by water. A unique opportunity not seen anywhere else in the word today.
Solution
Our vision for a world-class contemporary arts precinct included the repurposing of the former power station into a new, major arts centre. A vibrant arts precinct would be built around this cultural centrepiece – a place where creative endeavours would be developed and shared with the wider community.
