Designing a community around a major sports precinct
Challenge
Woolooware Bay Town Centre was the proposed development of a new retail, residential and recreational park – to be integrated with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks football ground. The master plan included the 17,000m2 Bay Central retail, health and hospitality development, and a residential development of approximately 650 apartments.
Insight
Capital Bluestone are a Joint Venture Partner on the project with Cronulla Sharks Leagues Club. A rejuvenated Sharks Leagues Club will be integrated into the new retail centre and connected to the stadium, foreshore and new dining precinct.
Solution
For this project, we designed the town centre master plan and retail component, while project partners developed the residential and landscape design. Walking trails linked the site elements, and plans to better integrate the football ground were key. Improved transport links were integral to the overall vision.
