Scott Carver were invited to participate in a competition for the concept design of the Travelodge Hotel at Westmead, which formed part of the West Grove mixed-use development.

The Client’s ambition was to create an aspirational development which would become a wellness-focused respite from the nearby Hospital Precinct. We set out to redefine the Limited Service Market Segment by providing an essential guest experience which is genuine and memorable, where the well-being of the guest is paramount.

We looked to the new basics that guests expect in hotels: appealing environment, high-quality F&B, inviting public spaces, modern fitness area and, consideration for sustainability. We created a concept design for the guest room and lobby which responded to the new basic requirements and addressed the desire for a range of guests to customise their environment to suit their needs - whether that is through cocooning individual spaces or vibrant social spaces.
