Wentworth Point Foreshore Park
The Foundation For A Future Community
Challenge
Located on the Eastern edge of Wentworth Point along the Parramatta River, Wentworth Point Foreshore is a centrally located community green space and town square that acts as an integral connection between Rhodes and the Millenium Parklands. The park encompasses a Town Square as an activation hub incorporating both outdoor dining/ cinema space and a central pavilion and amphitheatre, with an emphasis on digital activation and informal gathering.
Insight
The foreshore interface enhances key views to the river through the introduction of terraced platforms, look out points and community ‘Pods” extruding out of the amphitheatre embankment. The foreshore terraces provide the public with an opportunity to access the waterfront through a two-tiered system, both alleviating the level change and providing equity and ease of access.
Solution
The proposed design promotes the sense of community through the careful integration of communal gardens and multi-use activity space including courts, table tennis, and interpretive play facilities allowing adult and children engagement. The park provides approximately 6500m2 of open recreational space for informal games and gatherings and BBQ and picnic facilities at the key look out points along the waterfront allowing for maximum solar aspect and elevated views.

Design inspiration
The park derives its form from two key thoroughfares from the town square to the waterfront providing the visitor with well defined access and clear visual connection to the waterfront.
