Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park
Elevating an iconic hotel through sophisticated touches to create drama
Challenge
To elevate the Ballroom, Function Rooms and Prefunction areas to align with the hotel’s repositioning to Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, and its brand pillars of sophisticated design, elevated finishes, key destinations and stunning events.
Insight
The team respected the heritage of the existing building - designing these spaces to sit comfortably alongside the existing areas, as well as the new refurbishment works, which are already underway in the lobby and guestrooms. Our team focused on creating impact where it matters, to remain sensitive to the established budget of the project.
Solution
The verticality of the Ballroom is enhanced by cladding the existing columns in a dark timber and extending this cladding all the way up to the ceiling to create drama. The use of bronze screens as a feature element in the Ballroom creates a considered backdrop for events, while the far wall is clad in antique mirror to bring daylight into the space and elevate the grandeur of this space. The Hyde Park room is designed as a classic yet contemporary space, perfectly suited to weddings and events, while elegant sheers frame views across Hyde Park. The Prefunction area creates a strong sense of arrival and provides a transition between the grand atrium lobby and the elegance of the function areas. A colour palette of navy, greys and white are showcased throughout the space, with brass and metal details, reminiscent of looking into a jewellery box.
