A vibrant mixed-use heart for Oran Park Town Centre
The key challenge for this project was to create a vibrant mixed-use precinct in a new town centre in the south west of Sydney. In an area currently defined by single houses, medium scale development is being pursued by our client in the core centre of the Oran Park Master Plan. Our project is a critical component to this civic core of the master plan and will introduce density and scale into the area for the first time.
The project commenced with an expansion to existing retail centre and during this we identified the opportunity to create a market hall, connecting retail to the existing town park. Oran Park and its residents deserve choice and this market hall provides a naturally lit food emporium that celebrates the heritage and semi-rural nature of the broader Camden area. Combining commercial and residential buildings above, each with its own identity, creates a truly mixed-use development where each function compliments the other. In creating a new main street, it was important our development provides a sense of place and gravitas to the civic core, as future development occurs around the precinct.
This project provides an active and vibrant space for the growing Oran Park community and improves connections for the area between the shopping centre, library and park. This project will improve liveability in the area and includes a landmark apartment building that marks the centre of Oran Park, an extension of the Oran Park Podium shopping centre and new residential and commercial buildings. These residential buildings will help define the key junction between the Town Park and the new civic precinct, adjoining the Council Chambers and new Camden Library. The retail podium will double its number of shops, and will include large format retail, 50 speciality shops, a market-style food hall and six alfresco dining options restaurants as an extension of Oran Park’s Eat Street, fronting the town park and main street.
