An integrated sports field with built-in water management
With its beautiful natural backdrop – the Lane Cove National Park – the masterplan for Macquarie University’s sports fields was an exercise in finding the ideal balance. We needed to balance the integration of natural elements with the operational requirements of a large-scale sports field – public safety, wayfinding and well-defined playing field boundaries.
The project needed to cater for the future growth of the Macquarie University.
Our masterplan encompassed the integration of new sports infrastructure into the wider university landscape, along with supporting water and landscape management programs. We developed a water recycling strategy – via sewer mining – to satisfy the water requirements of the site’s new sports fields.
To create strong landscape images and an arrival experience reflective of the natural Lane Cove National Park backdrop.
