Laurus Projects Office Fitout
Designing a home for a new Development and Property Management Company
Challenge
The Scott Carver Interiors team were engaged to design the office fitout for a new Development and Property Management Company. As the building they reside in has been earmarked for future development, and therefore our Client’s time in the space could be limited, the design needed to create an appropriate first impression of the brand whilst respecting the compact budget.
Insight
The design team set out to create a space which reflected the organisation: a space which is friendly and approachable, prioritising integrity and the personal touch. Coupled with this was the requirement to provide flexibility within the design to allow co-working opportunities for like-minded organisations while the Laurus Projects team grows.
Solution
That the building has been earmarked for future development afforded some freedom for the design team in developing the design solution. Rather than adding materials, finishes were taken away: suspended ceiling were removed to expose building services, carpeting was removed to expose polished concrete flooring. Within this contemporary shell, the design team inserted a boardroom and meeting room, director’s office, and “phone booth”, freeing up the remaining space for collaborative working. Positioning the kitchen at the glass provides a bright and welcoming environment to host guests and truly forms the hub of this office. True to the integrity of the organisation, and honest material palette was used of natural and reclaimed timbers, polished concrete and glass. Indoor plants become a feature, providing a natural softening of the space whilst creating a buffer between the workstations and dining area. The end result was an office space which reflects at once the youthful, start-up nature of the organisation whilst also representing its polished professionalism.
