Traditional gestures inspire confidence and delight

Challenge

Investing in a country that’s only just entering a new era of democracy can be a risky undertaking, we collaborated with our clients to find risk-mitigating design solutions that would also present a confident and welcoming face to the Myanmar community and its visitors.

Insight

With the core ambition of establishing a new chain of hotels in Burma, Jasmine Rivera is a full collection of offers to capture a growing tourism market in Myanmar. In focusing the primary development around the concept of a Jade Forest, we offered the client a belief in a calm and protective future, inferring Jades symbolism in guarding from negative influence, and promoting wisdom, balance, and peace.

Solution

Built around a calming central element, a stunning Jade Forest, the Jasmine Riviera Resort acknowledges centuries of beauty and tradition. We have infused modern luxury with cultural heritage via well-planned and contemporary buildings with ornate features and traditional touches. The result is resolute, respectful and spiritually soothing.

Design inspiration

The Jade Forest is the precursor to arriving at the main resort hotel, a destination fusing and celebrating Burmese art, culture and history with modern luxury. Reflecting the colonial history of Yangon, the resort buildings are ordered and ornate, interwoven with Burmese traditional floating gardens, arts and crafts creating a watery oasis immersing guests in the spirit and calm that is the foundations of Buddhist teachings.
