Central Coast Stadium
A first-class sporting venue which responds to its waterside location
Challenge
To create a first-class, highly praised sporting venue, which could be home to the Central Coast Mariners association football, as well a regular host for rugby league, rugby union and other major sporting and social events.
Insight
With an all-seater capacity of 20,059 people, the stadium is located within walking distance of the Gosford CBD and Gosford Railway Station.
Solution
Rectangular in structure, the architecture for the facility responds strongly to its waterside location with seating only located on three sides of the grounds with the southern end favouring open filtered views of Brisbane Waters. The sloping cable-stayed light towers reinforce the striking aesthetic of this premier sports venue.

Its waterside location. The masts, cables, and curved tapering beams which form the support for the roof echo the forms of the craft on the adjacent waterways.
