The Bottle Tree House provided an interesting challenge – an existing dwelling to be demolished, a mature bottle tree to be saved, subtlety of form, placement and scale focused around the preservation and appreciation of the tree and the steepness of the land.
This duplex was set across 4 floors and positioned on a steep sandstone escarpment on the sunlit North Slope of the Cremorne hillside.
Respectful of neighbouring spatial quality, The Bottle Tree House accentuates the horizontal to calm scale within its environment.
A mature bottle tree and spaces that step, interweave and explore the gradient. This unifies with the flora to breathe harmoniously within its natural restraints.
