An expression of the craft of whisky making
Challenge
To design a distinctive bar for Scottish whisky company The Balvenie to submit to the IDEA Balvenie Bar design competition, which would come to life at the 2017 IDEA Gala Party. More than just a bar, the design should be an expression of the craft of whisky making and be an art piece in itself, which could be constructed for under $4,000. The preferred materials included, but were not limited to, wood (oak), copper (a reflection of the distilling process) and glass and needed to accommodate two people working behind it.
Insight
Although a pop-up bar in nature, for ease of installation and future use, the design requirements stipulated considerations into how easily and quickly it could be assembled, disassembled and transported to events. The Balvenie logo needed to be integrated but not overbearing.
Solution
Interior Designers and Landscape Architects from our Hospitality Design Team joined forces with industry experts, including a whisky connoisseur from The Baxter Inn, to create a beautiful and functional design solution to enter into the competition.
