Diversity In Design
We are pleased to welcome four new senior professionals to the Scott Carver leadership team to expand our support for a growing client base.
For Scott Carver, diversity must reflect the communities we create. “The appointment of Esther Dickins, Monique Franklin, Viola Lee and Peter Fajak reflects our commitment to building a high performing multi-disciplinary design studio. Scott Carver is all about place and space, connecting people through design to make liveable cities,” explains Managing Director Rodney Paesler.
Despite their diverse backgrounds and specialisations they share a passion for creativity and learning honed through a variety of local and international projects.
Esther Dickins, Senior Associate and Landscape Studio Leader, was recently invited to join the Women’s Leadership Initiative of the Urban Land Institute, a committee created to increase the representation and visibility of women leaders in this industry. Esther works flexible hours enabling her to balance work and family life, an important consideration and commitment of Scott Carver to the whole team.
For Senior Interior Designer Monique, her experience in Abu Dhabi working for the Emirate Royal Family provided an exotic landscape in which to design for a varied cultural aesthetic while also indulging her enjoyment of international travel. Scott Carver offers Monique the opportunity to work across design sectors including her love for hotels which require innovative solutions to create timeless designs.
Viola’s travels have also influenced the development of her eclectic design aesthetic which she brings to her role as Design Leader. She draws parallels to her interest in jewellery making for which she combines working with interesting concepts, materials, colours, structures and techniques to create something unique beyond its functional merits.
Peter Fajak’s role as Design Architect brings a wealth of new ideas to the team having had completely different experiences locally and internationally, albeit with similar project typologies in the hotel, residential and commercial markets.
Rodney explains that “attracting talented individuals particularly in senior roles means offering our people flexibility to manage their workloads. We are passionate about being change advocates, one of our core values. Technology is a great enabler of flexibility and this is something that benefits our team and our clients. It’s not always about working harder – working smarter is the way to go.”
With a team of over 65 people, it is even more important to offer flexible and varied workplace options for the expanding team, something we have physically incorporated into our own new premises, with team, project and quiet spaces in which to collaborate or concentrate. This philosophy is carried through in designing for our clients, creating spaces which are flexible and adaptable, providing longevity and future potential.
Esther, Monique, Viola and Peter look forward to collaborating with you soon.
