It’s an extremely rewarding and satisfying part of the job whether it’s assessing the opportunity of a site, developing adjacency stacking plans, defining the character and design of a product, detailing a guest room or refining the design to work with an existing site condition - it’s the interest and life of a project that keeps you on your toes.
Has working for Scott Carver influenced your style as an interior designer?
Working more collaboratively. The interiors team works collaboratively across all projects at various stages - we pin up our design ideas to workshop an outcome that is considered from all viewpoints with a creative energy and excitement across the projects.
Do you think an interior has the power to impact people’s lives in a positive way?
Of course. Hospitality design is end user focused. We are always seeking to understand the customer journey, what pushes their buttons and how the user will experience the character of the property to ultimately continually return to the property. We create the fabric in which people create personal memories, whether they be for business or pleasure.

Creating a memorable experience… challenging you to think both creatively and commercially.
Have you always had a passion for interior design?
I’ve always loved design. From an early age I always loved art and colouring - I remember renovating and decorating my dolls house as a child, my parents also undertook numerous home renovations which was always exciting and eventually lead to my study of interior design at university.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time with my family and experiencing new cafés, restaurants and parks (with and without the children), to add a new perspective to design, which I may not considered before. And holidaying to new hotels and resorts when time permits.
