MY PROFILE

John Ferres
Senior Associate | Nominated Architect NSW 4955
A highly experienced architect with over 30 years’ industry experience here and overseas, John takes a pragmatic approach to delivering complex design outcomes in the infrastructure; residential; commercial; educational and tourism sectors. His experiences across a wide range of project typologies leads to creative solution-driven responses to multiple architectural challenges. John has a particular interest in maritime industries, events and sports sites such as the Sydney Showground and multiple Sydney Olympic venues.
A keen design researcher, John has travelled across Europe, North America and China, successfully investigating the ‘urban condition’ of cities and suburbs. He appreciates the art of creating great buildings, however, architecture that seeks to improve the human condition is what truly motivates him. A refined consideration of form, materiality and tectonics continues to inform his exploration for a considered outcome to a variety of briefs.
To this end, he admires the work of architects such as Norman Foster and Richard Rogers: structurally expressive, yet with a respect for human scale and use. For John, the built form must be a place people want to be: living, working and playing.
