This urban renewall became neccessary after 30 years of a previous social housing scheme fell into neglect from poor planning and design that induced social disconnect, disturbance and police interventions.

This project saw the demolition of 31 existing houses in a poor state of repair to make way for 57 new Seniors Living dwellings as a more compact deliberate urban form to redefine social behaviour.

From the outset, the design team engaged with the community, the police, and the local council to develop solutions that addressed their key concerns, incorporating clear strategies to overcome the NSW police reports on crime and safety in the area.

This was a sygnificant opportunity to create new social behavious through a new public domain, one with clarity that defined new streets rather than cul-de-sacs, and new homes that addressed the street, offering connectedness through activation of gardens and balconies.

All dwellings achieved a 6 star NatHERS.
