The demands of modern retail complexes are presenting new design challenges that Scott Carver embraced though the recently prepared Marketplace Design Style Guide.

The Guide tackles recent changes whereby Marketplace centres have new forms beyond the typical "greenfield" shopping experience with differentiation between sizes and offer. With it’s emphasis on ‘place’, it also addresses the needs of communities, approval agencies and shoppers alike who now demand better responses to the urban settings of projects.

The fresh approach is symbolised by the place beneath the entry canopy being required to relate to the host context, reinforced by a dynamic retail environment.

The Guide is a useful tool explaining commercial imperatives and opportunities to improve civic amenity and customer experiences and for development managers, consultants, and builders as well as interested parties like Councils, building contractors and investors.
