Aquafit Fitness & Leisure Centre

Creating a facility that provided its members with the opportunity to achieve the feeling of "wellness" was the driver behind this project. The venue not only hosts the traditional gym areas, pools and associated facilities, but accommodates passive recreation facilities that cater for body repair and rejuvenation, beauty care and wellness treatments.

The architecture and the interior design of the project has responded to the brief by delivering higher quality environments than that normally experienced in these type of buildings.

The design has also been considerably influenced by the principles of sustainability. The orientation of the building, the shading systems, the use of timber as structural elements, energy efficient lighting and the use of electronic monitoring and control systems are all examples of measures implemented in the building - These measures preempted what are now considered as positive intiatives for energy efficiency calculations.
